Annual Reports

President’s Report 2021

The Society has held two exhibitions since our last AGM. The first was held online last November and resulted in two new members from the USA.
The second was the very well-presented exhibition at the Lady Franklin Gallery in April. We had quite a few interstate entries, including prize-winners. There were many compliments from visitors about the standard of work and presentation. The paintings were hung on new backing boards kindly made by Larri and Bart Hutchings.

We are now negotiating to have our 2022 annual exhibition at the School House Gallery in Rosny. I encourage you all to work hard to make this the best so far. We need more local entries to balance the interstate input.

President’s Report 2020

I am pleased to report on the activities of the last 12 months of the Society. The last AGM was held on 17 August 2019 at Briar Lane in Evandale. Unfortunately, President Pat Young had to suddenly and unexpectedly stand down as President at the February 2020 Committee meeting, due to health reasons. We wish Pat all the very best in dealing with her health issues. Pat left the Society in good order when she stepped down. I undertook to fill the void created, up until this AGM.

Another busy year has concluded since the A.G.M. and painting day on 25th August, 2018. The National Annual Awards Exhibition took priority soon after, giving the Committee much to organise in a very short space of time, leading up to the 8th September at the Derwent Sailing Squadron.

President’s Report 2018

After the 2017 AGM we began the 2017/18 year having celebrated three true milestones in the history of our Society – the High Tea to mark the 25th Anniversary of ASMA Tasmania, the well-deserved presentation of Life Membership to Bernadette Connor OAM and the presentation of the inaugural Founders Award – all very worthy events to celebrate as the Society looks to the future.

President’s Report 2017

Much has been happening within the Society since the 2016 AGM, keeping the Committee busy.  The first opportunity after the AGM for members to exhibit their work was the Hobart Show from 19th to 22nd October 2016.  A very acceptable number of entries in the Miniature Section ensured the category would continue. Congratulations were extended to Bill Watson and Ingrid Walpole, who were awarded 1st and 2nd with the voucher rewards being very acceptable indeed, and even better for 2017. It is hoped that the number of entries will be as good or better this year.

President’s Report 2016

The 2015/16 year has again been busy as the Committee endeavored to create opportunities for members to learn new skills and techniques, discover hidden talents and display their work in the hope of earning awards to encourage them on their artistic journey. We have also taken every available opportunity to educate the public about miniature art, and our Society in particular.

President’s Report 2015

The Colour Circle at Mt. Nelson was the venue for the A.G.M. on 19th July 2014. Unfortunately, the extreme cold of the afternoon kept the numbers attending down to eleven, but the coffee and cake to follow at The Signal Station was reward indeed for those braving the chill. A painting day was held at the Colour Circle on the Sunday.
